The Selt Property Group was established in 1989 and has since grown into a property company with holdings across multiple sectors.
In a career spanning almost 50 years – I began life as a fashion retailer. Taking our first lease on the high street in 1976 in North London. I started in the early 1970’s at Hemel Hempstead & Kingston Markets, prior to our first store.
I’ve been fortunate to have travelled across the UK and traded in many of the major retail locations throughout the country. At one point having more than 40 stores in the UK.
As our retail business grew, we appreciated the importance of the relationships we had as a leaseholder with our landlords. We had a mixture of institutional landlords, smaller property companies & private landlords. As the years progressed and we began to acquire some of the Freehold property we occupied, we made the shift to becoming a landlord.
My journey into the world of retail began in the mid 1970’s, from the early lessons of working in the markets, to manufacturing clothing in factories and mills across the world.
It would be true to say we are retailers at heart.
In the 20 years we have been building our property business we have always relied on what we understand – the high street. Our property business has been built in a sustainable way, with us being careful not to take unnecessary risks.
From a personal standpoint, we see the high street as a key part of everyday life in a world changing at break-neck pace. We react to changing trends in the market, our relationships with our tenants a testament to how we have handled a difficult period during the pandemic. We are committed to our tenant’s success; this attitude underpins our approach.
I began my career in property in 2007 working for a large property company in Mayfair, picking up some excellent experience and contacts early in my career. In the subsequent years I have worked both as an investment agent, acting for large Prop Co’s & institutions - and headed up two acquisition departments, successfully undertaking a number of mixed-use projects.
I joined the business in 2020 to assist in its further progression and growth. It is an exciting time for us as a business, as we look to re-position the portfolio and take on more projects in the upcoming years.
